Contact Number: W7714-186599/001/QD
D-TA Systems Inc. headquartered in Ottawa, Canada is delighted to announce the award of high-performance HF receivers for the next phase of the Polar Over-The-Horizon Radar (POTHR) project by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) an agency of Canada’s Department of National Defence (DND). This contract valued at around $11 M dollars is for the delivery of an additional set of 1024 receiver channels, plus spares by March 2022. D-TA is honoured to be part of this major project of national and strategic significance and appreciates the continued trust DRDC has placed on D-TA.
POTHR provides an economical means to track air targets over large expanses of land and ocean. Recent advances in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) OTHR technology has shown significant promise to suppress clutter from the Auroral zone. The concept has been proven by DRDC scientists in multiple testbeds with equipment supplied by D-TA. The aim of the current project is to introduce diversity by observing the same region from different directions which will enhance the detection probability.
D-TA has been involved, since the very inception of the project, with the DRDC scientists over the last nine (9) years. The initial prototype systems were mostly designed, built, and developed by D-TA to reduce project risks. “D-TA is very pleased to be a part of this ongoing project since the very beginning”, says Angsuman Rudra, CEO of D-TA Systems. “Our continued participation is a demonstration of our technical excellence and our ability to deliver complex solutions on time that meet or exceed all program objectives.”
The entire project will be executed out of D-TA’s Ottawa facility and will leverage D-TA’s extensive technical, financial, and managerial resources to meet the tight delivery schedule. For the previous phase of the POTHR project, which included 1024 receive and 256 transmit channels, from contract award to Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) readiness was achieved in record twelve (12) months.
“Continued involvement in this project has given us significant deployment experience and confidence to take on additional roles, including installation, operation, maintenance and long-term support for sites in the Arctic and elsewhere” says Dr. Dipak Roy, Founder & Chairman of D-TA Systems Inc.
