September 1, 2021, Washington DC:
D-TA Systems Corporation (D-TA), a leading provider of electromagnetic spectrum operations (EMSO) technologies and systems, has been awarded a contract through the Strategic & Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems (S²MARTS) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) to design and prototype a subminiature multi-mission Radio Frequency (RF) payload for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane Division. Under the Phase 1 effort, D-TA will design and demonstrate an embedded payload for conducting a variety of passive and active EMSO missions onboard Neptune, Navy’s expendable unmanned maritime systems.
“D-TA is honored to support NSWC Crane’s Neptune and next generation EMSO research and development (R&D) initiatives by delivering an innovative, reconfigurable, low-SWaP, ultra-wideband RF mission system inspired by our multi-million-dollar Research & Development (R&D) portfolio,” said COL (Ret) Steven Oatman, D-TA Systems Corporation’s General Manager. “This Neptune Payload Prototype is designed to advance the state-of-the-art in swarming maritime EMSO through bespoke, tightly-integrated, reconfigurable, high-performance embedded RF technologies.”
About S2MARTS:
The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Crane Division and the Department of Defense (DoD) require innovative technological solutions to address current and future security threats in the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS), trusted microelectronics, and strategic missions hardware environments. To engage the broadest set of innovators, NSWC Crane has created the Strategic and Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems (S²MARTS) OTA. The S²MARTS OTA (pronounced “SMARTS”) will refine strategies, management planning activities, and implement integrated, complementary solutions that enable broader Department of Defense (DoD) access to commercial state-of-the-art EMS technologies, advanced microelectronics, radiation-hardened (RAD-HARD) and strategic missions hardware.
